Bucharest law firm Lina & Guia has secured a place alongside Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Norton Rose on a €207m Greece-to-Romania telecoms purchase.
The transaction saw Greek company Cosmote Mobile Telecommunications, a division of Hellenic Telecommunications, agree to purchase Romanian counterpart Telemobil. The asking price was €207m, of which €146m was for debt and other liabilities. Telemobil was previously owned by Middle East group Saudi Oger.
The takeover of Telemobil is part of a push by Cosmote to expand its business outside of its Greek base. The transaction is subject to approval by the local authorities.
Four-partner Romanian firm Lina & Guia won the local law mandate for Cosmote. Managing partner Cristian Lina was the lead lawyer. Freshfields provided international advise while Norton Rose acted for the seller.
